Are you looking for something new to do? Watched everything there is on Netflix, and tired of scrolling through Social Media? If that’s the case, then you’re in the right place. I’ve been trying out numerous pastimes recently to see what’s fun, and what’s just a flash in the pan. Here’s what I’ve been enjoying recently. Maybe one of these pastimes will be for you?
Journals are the newest thing when it comes to writing and organisation. Whether you’re looking to just arrange your day or really get into how you’re feeling, there’s lots of ways to try it out. The best part is, you don’t need much to get started. All you need is a notebook and a pen, and you can start scribbling.
Want to up your game? You can try bullet journaling, where you use a dotted paper journal to keep track of daily activities and anything else that you can think of. You can keep it as simple as possible, or go all out with stickers, tapes, coloured pens and more. There’s lots of inspiration online, so take a look and see what’s out there.
Even if you don’t have a lush country garden, you can dip your toes into gardening. I’ve started small by setting up some window boxes with some easy to care for flowers. They really brighten up the living room, and I feel quite accomplished having grown them myself.
There’s also the option to grow your own food. This can be done quite small scale too, with things like herbs in your kitchen. Whatever you want to grow, you can find a huge amount of advice and tips online, so you can be gardening like a pro in no time at all.
This is something I’ve carried over from lockdown, when I couldn’t go out and was feeling rather isolated from other people. There’s a ton of new online bingo sites out there, and they offer an experience that’s not unlike one in a traditional bingo hall.
You’ll jump into a bingo room and start chatting with everyone else in between rounds. There’s always chat hosts who keep it light and friendly, too. You can play for free in free bingo rooms, or buy tickets for as little as 1p each.
Yes, really. You may think of jigsaw puzzles as something only your grandma would do, but in fact they’re a really relaxing hobby. You can buy puzzles with all kinds of artwork on them, so there’s going to be puzzles out there that suit you well.
There’s something very satisfying about completing a puzzle. You get a real sense of accomplishment from seeing all the pieces fit together. Plus, once you’ve finished it you can even frame it to put on the wall.
Why go to the nail salon when you can do your own nails? I’ve been teaching myself nail art recently, and it’s been so much fun. There are so many ways to make your nails looks fun and funky, and who wouldn’t love to be able to say they did it themselves?
The best part is you don’t need to be perfect at it right away. If you mess up, just a few swipes of nail polish remover are all you need to remove the evidence.
These are just a few of the things I’ve been getting into recently. It’s easy to pick up any of these hobbies, and they’re all relaxing and don’t require perfection. Why not give some of them a try for yourself? You may even meet other people through them!
